I had the pleasure of having a little chat with him, and he was very nice to answer a few questions, but in the meanwhile pay close attention to one of his short films:

How did you get involved with CG?

I first started with photography but couldn’t get enough out of it. I needed more control over what I was illustrating so I started experimenting in CG.

What are your softwares of choice when it comes to animation?

Cinema 4D, Poser, Realflow. I am currently discovering Vue.

How long have you been using Cinema 4D and what do you like the most about it?

I’ve been using C4D for about 4 years and it’s a very user friendly software. I like the simplicity of it.

It’s impressive what you have done so far. Approaching art from very different ways, is there anything that serves as an anchor point for your creations?

I like to keep all my work connected to each other, like a story. I don’t want people to lose themselves between random pictures, I always try to keep them in track.

How do you manage your time? Is it easy for you to produce so much and still have a healthy personal life?

It’s not actually I have back problems. You have to sit a lot to produce that much and it does cause pain from time to time. But I just got a dog called Luci, she will help me handle a few walks during the day I guess.

Where do you get your inspiration from? Several sources from different areas I suppose. Are there any names that you would point out?

I am a big fan of Storm Thorgerson’s work. There aren’t many others I can name. Besides that astrology is a great source of inspiration to me.

Regarding your latest film:

How long did it take to produce?

It took me about 3 months to produce it.

What’s your workflow like? Do you start by sketching on paper?

I do make a few sketches of the scenes but things generally changes when I build the actual scenes.

Do you have a clear idea of what you want to do or do you improvise while you’re at it?

I love improvising. It’s all about experimenting to me. I never had a fixed vision about what I do.

Do you produce the music before the video, or otherwise? How does each of these inspire the other?

It’s one into the other. I mean I do compose the music after I have enough footage. Then I try to combine for the best.

What render engine did you use, and how long did it take to render the complete project?

I used C4D’s Physical Renderer. It took about one month to render the project.

What are your plans for the future? Should we expect another film soon?

No, I can’t really sit anymore. I am taking a break for now. I’m planing to work on a complete music album instead. Time will tell.

What would you advice to new artists that would like to share their work and get noticed?

To be original. Technique and visual quality comes second. I would recommend them to focus on the story they are going to tell. You can skip film festivals, Vimeo is enough to be noticed if you have a good film.

Wrapping it up
